The river flowing through Fenghuang lined with Ming-Qing stilted houses (diaojiaolou) on wooden piles. Walk both banks. Stone stepping-stones cross at multiple points.
Red lanterns light up every stilted house along the river. The reflection on Tuojiang water is one of China's most iconic night scenes. Walk slowly along both banks 20:00-22:00.
